Our reputation for the extraordinary is characterized by the exceptional oak casks for which The Macallan is renowned, sourced, crafted, toasted, and seasoned under the watchful eyes of The Macallan Masters of Wood, our casks have been delivered through the years to the exacting specifications of generations of master distillers, our spirit, acquiring a robust elegance from our curiously small stills, has slowly quietly matures in these hand-crafted oak cask for at least seventy-three long years. It is the ancient wood that provides the greatest contribution to the character, natural color, distinctive aromas, and full flavors at the heart of the single malt. Sought after by whisky lovers and connoisseurs worldwide, The Macallan Seventy-Three Years Old is yet another pinnacle of The Macallan Whisky Maker’s art.The nose is effervescent and intricate with a medley of antique oak, apricot jam, fine licorice, and treacle tart. Soft baked apples, nutmeg, and tropical notes add to the overall complexity. A sweetness coats the mouth, with dates, sweet woodsmoke, bittersweet treacle toffee, and a hint of aromatic leafiness which then leads to a fruitiness and salinity reminiscent of a fine Palo Cortado. Soft tannins, subtle spice, and a continued mineralogy elongate the finish.
